Dr. Jagdish R Tonannavar

Dr. Jagdish R Tonannavar is a former Professor of Physics at Karnatak University, Dharwad (KUD) where he is currently Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physics. He is the Fellow of Karnatak Science & Technology, Bengaluru.

He has a vast experience of over 35 years in teaching and research both at under-graduate (PUC/BE/BSc) and post-graduate level (MSc/MPhil/PhD). His research interests include experimental and computational molecular spectroscopy of diverse organic molecular systems. Dr. Tonannavar led a Vibrational Spectroscopy Research Group with Dr. Jayashree Tonannavar as the principal collaborator and both have guided 16 students for PhD.

He is a former member of the Academic Council at KUD. In his capacity as scientific administrator Dr. Tonannavar established a multi-crore analytical instrument facilities. He served on a number of committees at different places. Dr. Tonannavar is deeply interested in popularizing science and he has given popular talks, lectures and written articles. His other current interest includes an abiding interest in the history of science and its culture. Dr. J. R. Tonannavar is the alumnus of P.C. Jabin Science College, Hubballi.
