Dr. Dwarakish G S is a distinguished Professor at the Department of Water Resources and Ocean Engineering, National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, Karnataka, where he also currently serves as the Dean of Academics.
Dr. Dwarakish completed his Ph.D. in Coastal Engineering, Remote Sensing, and GIS from Anna University, Chennai, in 2001. His academic background also includes a B.Tech and an M.Tech in Civil Engineering and Hydraulics, respectively, both completed with distinction from Mysore University.

With over three decades of academic and research experience, he is widely recognized for his expertise in Coastal and Water Resources Engineering, Remote Sensing, and GIS. Beyond his teaching and research roles, Dr. Dwarakish has held key administrative positions at NITK, including Head of Department and Dean (Planning & Development). He is a recipient of the Prof. Satish Dhawan Young Engineers State Award (2013), awarded by the Government of Karnataka, a prestigious state-level honour, reflecting excellence in engineering.
His research achievements have also been recognized with the Best Paper Award at the 2nd International Conference on Climate Change (2018) and the Venus International Faculty Award (2016) for his work in Coastal Engineering Sciences. He is a life member of multiple professional societies: Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS), Indian Society for Hydraulics, Indian Society of Geomatics, ISTE, IEEE, Indian Association of Hydrology, Ocean Society of India, Indian Water Resources Society, Institution of Engineers (India), etc.
